Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Clanpair mobile application and the website at clanpair.io (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You may use Clanpair only if you (a) are at least 18 years old, (b) are a resident of Pakistan or otherwise lawfully able to use the Service from your location, (c) hold a valid Pakistani Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and are willing to submit photos of it for manual verification, and (d) have not previously been banned from Clanpair. We may refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove content at our discretion.

2. Account responsibility

You are responsible for safeguarding access to your account (including the phone number and any device-level biometric you enable for unlock). Activity on your account is treated as yours. Notify us at admin@clanpair.io if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. CNIC verification

Access to matches and chat requires CNIC verification. You agree to provide truthful photos of the front, back, and a selfie alongside your CNIC. We may reject submissions that are blurred, expired, or appear to be of someone other than you. CNIC photos are retained and processed as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

While using the Service, you must not:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, impersonate, defraud, or knowingly mislead other users.
• Submit a CNIC, photo, name, age, university, or other detail that's not yours.
• Use the Service to solicit, advertise, or sell anything other than as a peer-to-peer roommate enquiry.
• Share or attempt to obtain another user's contact details outside the Service's designed reveal flow.
• Probe, scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
• Use the Service to violate any applicable law of Pakistan or your jurisdiction.

You can report another user via the in-app Report flow or by emailing admin@clanpair.io. You can block another user (one-way, non-recoverable in v1) via the in-app Block flow.

5. User content

You retain ownership of the photos, profile fields, and chat messages you submit ("User Content"). You grant Clanpair a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, transmit, display, and adapt your User Content solely for the purpose of operating the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups and audit logs we retain for reasonable security and dispute-resolution timeframes.

6. Matching is best-effort, not a guarantee

Clanpair surfaces other users you may be compatible with based on quiz answers, area, and budget. We don't guarantee any particular result, response, or roommate outcome. We are not a party to any rental arrangement, payment, or housing dispute that arises between users. Meet in safe public places, verify identities yourself, and follow basic precautions.

7. Subscription & payment

Some features of Clanpair may require a paid subscription. Any applicable price, billing period, and renewal terms are disclosed at the point of purchase. Payment is handled on our website (clanpair.io/unlock) through the ASWebAuthenticationSession in the iOS app or directly on the web, via local Pakistani payment rails (currently manual EasyPaisa receipt review). You can cancel anytime in your account settings. Refunds, where offered, are handled in accordance with the terms presented at the time of purchase and applicable local consumer law.

8. Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the app. Deletion cascades to your profile, matches, chats, messages, and CNIC verification records. We retain minimum audit metadata for a reasonable period for fraud prevention. We do not offer account recovery after deletion; to use Clanpair again you would create a new account.

9. Termination by us

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, including (without limitation) for breach of these Terms, for unverifiable or fraudulent CNIC submissions, for abuse reports from other users, or for legal compliance. Where reasonable we will give notice; where not (e.g., active safety threat), we will not.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clanpair disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular user is who they claim to be despite our verification measures.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clanpair's aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. We will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, even if advised of the possibility.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Clanpair, its officers, employees, and agents harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your User Content, or (c) your interaction with another user.

13. Governing law & dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You and Clanpair submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Islamabad, Pakistan for any dispute that cannot be resolved informally. Nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights under Pakistani law.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify active users in the app for material changes. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance.
